what do

Perhaps not, but I am more of a magecraft user than a proper magus. One could say that it is simply an occasional side hobby than an occupation. After all, I do not know why they pursue it, either. I do not understand the mindset of magi any better than anyone does.

I believe this is a situation that could be called amusing by others. Or perhaps astounding... Well, I suppose finding a label for this is just a frivolity in the end.

Perhaps "ironic" is the most accurate word. That the one in my shoes would be the one man who has absolutely no interest in the Root. Perhaps there is a mild sort of humor in it as well, but it falls rather flat... hm, I do wonder what my old magus of a teacher would have though of this. [ aka tokiomi who tried to get to the root too... ]

Admittedly, if I could I would find myself amused whenever this body speak with a magus. "So close, yet so far" is the term to describe it, I believe. How very unfortunate for them that they will never realize how simple it is to reach their goal.

Hmph, indeed. Who would have thought? This grand goal of theirs is a young lady who walks around town at night looking like someone that doesn't belong in this era. One can only wonder what would happen if one of them were to know about this and to seek out a way to seize that goal. Perhaps it would be a comfort to know then that my walking about like this does not occur so often. [Half-true at least--"she" wasn't the one walking when Shiki took her late night strolls through city alleyways.] Oh, but that I think would be quite entertaining to see. Humans will show their true colors when pushed to desperation, and what could incite more desperation than having their goal right before their very eyes?

Very true. Few things match up to the entertainment of seeing people show there true colors when in desperation, throwing away everything they have for a single goal, even that which they previously swore not to give up on, even their own loved ones. During such times, even the purest and most well-intentioned of saints cannot help but expose their darkness. It is much more fun if they fail to seize whatever it was that incited it, however. When that moment of desperation ends and they look back and realize what they have done, their easily exploitable and immeasurable feelings of guilt and regret are a sight to see.

Knowing something and seeing it confirmed for myself are two different things.
